Special Olympics Day Field Trip
Posted on: May 30, 2023
Good afternoon Horace Mann community,
I hope you all had a great long weekend!
Salem Public Schools will be hosting the 3rd Annual Special Olympics Unified Game Day on Thursday, June 8th at Captain John Bertram Athletic Field from 9:45-11:00 AM. As a school, we are committed to inclusion and equity and we want to make sure our students understand the importance and significance of this event. HMLS will be going on a walking field trip to Captain John Bertram Athletic Field to cheer on our fellow classmates. We will be celebrating athletes from different programs throughout the district through inclusive programming and adapted athletic events.
We are seeking parent volunteers to assist students from 2nd-5th grade with walking over to the field so we can cheer on members of our community who are participating in this fantastic event! K-1 students will not be walking, they will be taking transportation to the field and if your child is on grades K-1, you are more than welcome to meet us at the field.
Please note that you do need a CORI to volunteer, so you will need to fill one out ASAP to volunteer for this field trip. If you have already filled one out this year, then you do not need to fill another one. It is only for families that wish to volunteer but haven’t filled out a CORI form yet. If you need a CORI, let me know and I can send you one in your child’s backpack or you can come to the school to get one with me or Mrs. Fair. You will need a copy of your ID. Thank you!
If you’re able to volunteer, please contact me directly via ParentSquare or at mariasreyes@salemk12.org
Have a great rest of your day,
